Energy and Emissions

Connect Hygiene’s Environmental Management System takes into account energy consumption, water usage, raw materials, the local environment and community as well as our wider impact through transport. Our Disley mill is compliant with the following schemes:

Climate Change Levy Agreement:

Whereby we
  • Report on usage of fuels such as electricity/gas and gas oil and;
  • Implement strategies to reduce our energy consumption

European Union Emissions Trading Scheme:

Where the focus is on reducing the amount of fuels burnt on site.

Our Disley Mill also chooses not to use the TAD (Through-air-drying) manufacturing process due to the higher energy consumption which is approximately 2.5 times more than the conventional process.

European Union Emissions Trading Scheme:

In order to meet our objectives within these schemes we are:
  • Actively looking to further reduce our CO2 emissions
  • Implementing a continuous programme that looks at ways to maximise efficiency – looking at everything from improving processes to reduce waste, new technology to increase efficiencies, and new pack configurations to help maximise truck fill.
  • Committed to finding alternatives to fossil fuels for our energy where appropriate.
