The Benefits of Recycling
Firstly, let’s bust a common misconception on this subject:
Recycled tissue paper is made from a mix of recovered office paper/brochures/print trimmings, NOT from used toilet tissue paper, the hygienic reasons for this are obvious!
Our 100% recycled paper is made up of a mix of pre-consumer waste, post-consumer waste that can be defined as follows:
It’s better for the environment
By buying recycled paper we are making better use of natural resources, reducing the amount of virgin fibres needed to be obtained from forests, actively diverting waste from landfill sites and reducing CO2 (CPI, 2008).
It’s better for the society
Educating people to buy recycled products and to recycle the products that they use could have a significant impact on the cultural and economic development for a more sustainable future.
Recycling Terms Explained
Post-consumer waste
A paper that has been used for its intended purpose and collected. Once collected we then recycle this paper into tissue.
Pre-consumer waste
A paper that has not reached the intended end user, this includes waste left over from the manufacturing and printing process. Whilst it is obviously good practice to recycle such materials, the real challenge comes from recycling as much post-consumer waste as possible.
